Jarrad Branthwaite in Transfer Spotlight
Everton defender, Jarrad Branthwaite, is gaining attention during the mid-year transfer period.
Manchester United reportedly submitted a bid of £35 million – plus £8 million in add-ons – for the 21-year-old footballer, but it fell short of the hefty price tag of £70 million around his neck; and it doesn’t seem like the Toffees are willing to budge.
Branthwaite’s strong performance during the 2023/2024 season has attracted interest from both English Premier League (EPL) and European clubs. Everton appear eager to capitalise on the sudden popularity of the young defender, as a large sale would be beneficial for their profit and sustainability regulations (PSR) calculations.
The Red Devils are reportedly reluctant to butter up the offer as the club currently has a strict budget of £50 million, which can only be enhanced if they are also able to complete a couple of major sales themselves.
However, it looks like Everton won’t be forced to compromise just yet as Aston Villa have made an undisclosed bid for Toffees forward Lewis Dobbin. The sale of Dobbin could buy Everton some more time and leeway as they wait for the next perfect transfer partner.
